Bluehost Review, coupon codes and deals
Unlike Crucial Hosting or VidaHost, Bluehost is a ‘specialized’ web hosting service; as they only offer shared and reseller hosting. This makes them excellent in providing these types of services, so if you are looking to run a simple website or even a powerful blog using WordPress, then Bluehost is a great choice. If you are starting up a business type website, then try looking into companies such as Inmotion, who specialize in that type of hosting.
General
Bluehost was founded in 2003 and is based in a 50,000 square foot head office with an additional two 20,000 data centers. They claim to host millions of domains with an average of 20,000 new ones being registered every month.
Types of hosting offered: Standard/Shared hosting Reseller Hosting
Features
Bluehost offers instant script setups with its 1-click install, making installing WordPress or Joomla websites or blogs quick and simple. Some unique features Bluehost offers is a free domain for one full year, support for international domains, customizable error pages, a free SEO report, and a free Yellow Pages listing. Unlike Crucial Hosting and VidaHost, which we are huge fans of and you can read more about them in this post, Bluehost does not offer anything other than shared and reseller hosting, making them specialized in this service and able to provide it in top quality form. Bluehost comes right “out of the box” with:
Unlimited Disk Space
Unlimited Bandwidth
Unlimited Domains
Free Domain
Free SiteBuilder
Unlimited Email accounts
$100 free marketing credits
1-click install applications
Access to online tutorials
Any-time money back guarantee
Free Yellow Pages listing
Free SEO report
Free domain for one full year
International domain support
Reliability
BlueHost provides all of its customers with regular backups with its UPS and diesel generator and Bluehost rarely has any website downtime. That said, BlueHost does not offer up any claim about an up-time guarantee; though they do claim to monitor the servers 24/7. They also offer a toll-free refund policy if you were ever to leave because your website went down.
Ease of Use
BlueHost comes with the powerful, yet simple, cPanel for your control panel. CPanel is the default control panel from most web hosting services and is very simple to use, even for those who are not familiar with it. This makes everything from installing blog software such as WordPress, to website statistic logs easily available.
Price
$4.95 gets you the basic Bluehost package with all necessary features included. Pricing isn’t bad, but Bluehost only gives you the option of signing up for yearly plans, 1, 2 or 3 year plans respectively. If you don’t mind putting down a decent chunk of money as soon as you sign up then this isn’t a problem. If you are like me and prefer to pay monthly, TsoHost, VidaHost and/or BazingSEOLLC are probably better services for you.
Help and Support
Bluehost offers the usual in terms of support. 24/7 phone support, email and live chat are available to all customers. Like HostGator and Justhost, Bluehost has a wealth of information in the form of online guides, forums and video tutorials for quick fixes to typical type problems. Questions are also answered semi-fast and in a detailed manner. In our experience, if you are looking for a quick response, then phone lines and live chat should be used, and the online ticket system should help resolve more difficult type problems.
Pros: Unique features such as Yellow pages listing and free SEO report, typical features such as the Unlimited bundle (bandwidth and Disk space), and $100 in free advertising credits, free domain for one year.
Cons: Not suitable for business hosting, questions/concerns weren’t answered as fast as other web hosting services, no monthly payment options.
